  Marco's Inspiration:
"The bronze sculpture of Nuestra Senora de Dolores was inspired by a 19th century folk artist known as the Santo Nino Santero. I originally carved the figure in wood before creating the bronze following the lost wax technique. Pigmented patinas are placed on the bronze to match the natural pigments used to match the polychrome in traditional woodcarving.

The figure is of Mary enduring the sorrows of the crucifixion of Jesus. Religious folklore describes the patronage of this image to be for strength in suffering, compassion for others in sorrow, help with children, and help in childbirth."
